{easter} A Small Roundup of Easterrific Ideas

I like Easter because it was my grandmother’s favorite holiday, so it always makes me think of her and brings up many fond memories. Also, because there’s nothing more fun than dying eggs and hiding/finding them with nieces and nephews! And finally, because I get to eat lots of ham and cheezy potatoes. So in that spirit, here is a roundup of some of my favorite and most Easterrific ideas… enjoy!

Last year I cut up some old neckties from a thrift store and made these gorgeous silk-dyed eggs… a stunning result from a surprisingly simple project!

These lemon raspberry cake balls kind of look like eggs, and the white chocolate is an Easter-y shade…

You can use the Chinese Tea-Egg concept and make these cool crackly-looking eggs

After which, the crackly eggs can become deliciously deviled.

This year, I’m planning to do that thing where you use only natural dyes like turmeric, beets, grass, and onion skins to color the eggs. I might try some more of the silk ones too, because those were a big hit. But I’m not one of those bloggers who makes stuff in advance to blog about it in a timely fashion, ie BEFORE Easter, because I’m LAZY and don’t want to make things twice. No worries, it will be in next year’s roundup, or perhaps somewhat inappropriately posted next week.

It’s a long held tradition in my family (over a hundred years I’d guess, since my mother lived to be 98 and had she lived she would be 103 by now and her mother taught her).

I use onion skins to wrap the eggs and I often smear in used tea leaves. Beautiful marble effect.

    Your eggs are pretty gorgeous!
